Dr. Seuss Baby Shower

I was asked by niece to make decorations for a Dr. Seuss themed baby shower. I was never much of a Dr. Seuss fan... his drawings were kind of creepy to me. Well forget the drawings....his quotes are words to live by. I enjoyed this theme and my chance to see what others find so charming about Dr. Seuss.

Gender Reveal Party...it's not what you think.

I was asked to make decorations and bake items for a "Gender Reveal" party...at first I thought this was a way for one to reveal their sexuality. I learned that this is a newish thing. It's a gathering of friends and family to reveal the sex of the baby. In this case the mother-to-be had the ultrasound results placed in a sealed envelope. The envelope was then given to the friend who was hosting the party. The hostess then has to come up with a creative way to reveal the sex of the baby to all the guests including the parents-to-be.

The theme of the party was "Hotwheels or Hairbows".  We used Hotwheels to decorate the table with the cupcakes. I have a very talented friend who made assorted hairbows to scatter on the cupcake table. Everything was made in pink and blue. The hostess chose to reveal the sex of the baby by having me make cupcakes that were injected with pink frosting. The cupcakes were frosted with pink and blue frosting. The sex of the baby was revealed when the guests bit into the cupcake.
